What is Best Behaved Birds?

Best Behaved Birds has finally arrived in Japan for the first time in summer 2026! We are thrilled to announce that their products are now available from PEGO.

These foods are created by Best Behaved Birds, a team of professional bird trainers based in the United Kingdom. We have wanted to offer their products for a long time, and we are so excited that everything is finally ready!

We have also created an introduction page about Best Behaved Birds. Please take a look to learn more about the people, expertise, and philosophy behind the brand.

What is Best Behaved Birds?

We are both Certified Professional Bird Trainers (CPBT-KA) with the International Avian Trainers Certification Board IATCB, and we are professional members of the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators.

We are always learning, even with our extensive experience, so that we can give you the most up-to-date best practice for looking after your pet bird. Some of our continued professional development has included courses in Animal Nutrition, and workshops in Husbandry Training, Cooperative Care, Free Shaping and Antecedent Arrangement.

David

David brings together a lifelong passion for birds with professional experience in education and research. He believes that educating bird owners is essential not only for improving the lives of companion birds, but also for making life with birds more rewarding, comfortable, and fulfilling for the people who care for them.

David specialises in bird training and relationship building. He enjoys teaching new behaviours through positive interactions and finds great satisfaction in seeing birds from a wide range of backgrounds make significant progress through appropriate care and consistent training.

He has completed specialist studies in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and has attended numerous seminars and professional training programmes focused on avian behaviour. More recently, he completed the course Living & Learning with Animals: The Fundamental Principles and Procedures of Teaching and Learning, which is designed for veterinary and animal care professionals.

The course is taught by renowned psychology professor Dr Susan Friedman of Behavior Works and provides in-depth study of the theory and practical application of behaviour analysis, together with ethical training methods that place animal welfare at the forefront.

More information about David and his birds is available on his YouTube channel, TheParrotTeacher, where he shares educational content on bird husbandry and training.

Message from PEGO

PEGO and Best Behaved Birds were founded at around the same time, and we have been very interested in their work and connected with them since those early days.

We regularly watch Sophie and David’s YouTube videos and Instagram content. Both have extensive knowledge of avian behaviour and nutrition, and we have learned a great deal from them over the years.

We are therefore delighted that, after finally establishing an import route from the United Kingdom, we are now able to offer Best Behaved Birds products through PEGO—something we have long hoped to make possible!

Due to Japan’s import regulations, many Best Behaved Birds products could not previously be imported into Japan, even through personal import. To make their products available here, Sophie and David kindly created special Japan-exclusive formulations for several items by adjusting the ingredients to comply with Japanese import requirements.

We are truly excited to introduce these products and hope that many birds will have the opportunity to try them.

Shipping is available from the United Kingdom to Japan, and from Japan to South Korea and Taiwan. Availability for other countries is currently unknown, as we have not yet confirmed whether all ingredients comply with their respective import regulations.
