Unlike many other parrots that primarily eat seeds or pellets, lories naturally feed mainly on flower nectar, along with fruits, other plant-based foods, and pollen.

Their digestive systems are adapted to this specialized diet, with a relatively short digestive tract suited to foods that are naturally high in moisture.

Lories do not naturally eat an entirely dry diet in the wild.
For this reason, offering a moisture-rich, nectar-based diet is an important part of feeding lories in a way that reflects their natural dietary habits.
Lory Maintenance Diet is designed for caregivers who want to make nectar-based feeding the foundation of their bird’s diet, rather than relying mainly on pellets or completely dry foods.

Lory Maintenance Diet is intended to be used as the daily staple, alongside fresh fruit and supplemental enrichment foods such as Lory Cuisine Diet. Combining these foods can help create a more varied feeding routine that more closely reflects the diversity of a lory’s natural diet.

Rather than emphasizing added enrichment ingredients, this formula is intentionally kept simple, with a focus on providing a dependable everyday staple and a balanced nutritional foundation.

Lories, Lorikeets.

In a clean bowl, add 1/3 cup of powder or slightly less depending on how much your bird(s) consume in 4-6 hrs. Best served fresh 2x a day. Never leave old food in bowls or in the cage over night. Dry powder should only ever be used as a supplement with fresh fruits/veggies.

Breeders, Zoo’s & Exhibit birds with large flocks; Mix 2-2.5 cups of nectar mix to 1 gallon clean drinking water. This will provide a milk like consistency. For a more diluted mix, use less nectar mix to 1 gallon water.

In a clean bowl, mix 1/3 cup or (5tbs) of mix to one cup clean drinking water. Feed fresh 2x a day. You can also mix to your birds preferred consistency and feed what you know your bird will consume in 4-6 hrs. Do not re use old food. Do not leave in bowls over night. Wet mix spoils faster in hot temperatures, and may need changed every 2-3 hrs.

As noted in the product description, the manufacturer makes each batch to order, and the shelf life is approximately one year from the date of production.

Taking production and international shipping time into account, you can expect the product to have approximately 10 months of shelf life remaining by the time it arrives.

All product variants come in a powder form. Nutritionally they are the same. Please note that when selecting a variant "Add Water" or "Feed Dry", that you follow the feeding instructions accordingly. The "Add Water" variant contains a thickening agent when mixed with clean drinking water, and it must be fed as a wet nectar mix. 

The "Feed Dry" variant should always be served alongside clean drinking water. This variant should only be fed as supplement, and incorporated with low iron fruits and vegetables.
