Biodiversity Bird Blends is dedicated to improving the lives of the animals we keep through whole food nutrition. We rely on the decades of science that has shown us the value of biological compounds in whole food items and the dangers of processed foods. We also rely on experts in avian nutrition who run our formulations and create our innovative products to ensure their safety and benefits for all animals. As both Dr. Jason and Dr. Karen have long said, we want our animals to THRIVE, not just survive.

Product Overview

Suitable Animals

Suitable for finches and small, medium, and large parrots.

Suitability for lories and lorikeets depends on the materials included in each bouquet. Please use your own judgment when offering it to your bird.

Depending on the materials used, the bouquet may also be suitable for small animals such as hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, and sugar gliders. Please offer it at the owner’s discretion.

How to Use

• Place it in the cage
• Hang it inside the cage
• Place it in your bird’s play area during out-of-cage time
• Tear off small pieces from the bouquet and sprinkle them over your bird’s food to create a more engaging foraging experience

There are many creative ways to use this bouquet. At PEGO, our favorite methods are placing it inside the cage or hanging it from the top of the cage. The best option will depend on your bird’s species and individual preferences, so feel free to experiment and find what your bird enjoys most.

Ingredients

Images are ONLY examples of items that will be sent. Each bundle is unique and comprised of a variety of items to encourage your birds to forage. Items are seasonal and so each item's availability changes throughout the year. Each bundle you order will be a new surprise combination of items to keep your birds on their toes!

Give your birds a bundle of biodiversity to get them exercising those naturalistic foraging behaviors! All items are safe, naturally dried, and grown in the USA, bundled with uncolored raffia. All items are in their natural, original state, grown without chemicals with no color enhancement or chemical preservation of any kind.

Quality

Biodiversity Bird Blends relies on experts in animal nutrition to carefully and safely formulate our blends. We do NOT simply mix random items in bags without considering the impact each ingredient will potentially have on your animals. We use the absolute best quality ingredients and inspect every batch carefully. Our goal is to improve the lives of the animals with which we share our lives and appreciate your trust in us and our products.

What Is Whole Food?

In bird nutrition, “whole foods” are ingredients that wild birds could obtain in nature—fresh vegetables and fruits, seeds, nuts, herbs, coconut, edible flowers, insects, and items that are soaked or sprouted. In short, foods you can recognize at a glance.

With the exception of processed products such as pellets, supplements, and bird cookies, most of these are considered whole foods. (Seeds count as whole foods, too.)

Best-By Date/Storage Instruction

Because this is not a food product, it does not have an expiration date.

Store it away from heat and humidity, and keep it dry. If it becomes wet, allow it to dry completely before offering it again.

Repeated exposure to moisture and drying may weaken or damage the materials. Please inspect the product carefully and use your own judgment when deciding whether it is still safe to use.

FAQ

We haven't received any questions about this product yet, but we've included answers to some common questions you may have. If you have any other questions, please feel free to send us a direct message.

Q: Is this safe for my species of parrot?
A: Yes. This product is suitable for all parrots except nectar-feeding species, such as lories and lorikeets.

Q: Can I request a return or replacement if insects are found on the product?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot offer a return or replacement if only a small number of insects are present. As noted in the Product Overview, this bouquet is made entirely from natural plant materials, so insects may occasionally be present.

If you don't mind, you may simply leave them as they are, as they can serve as a natural source of animal protein. If you prefer, you may also remove them before offering the bouquet to your bird.

However, if the number of insects is clearly excessive or appears unusual compared with the amount of plant material, please contact us. We will consult the manufacturer and respond accordingly.

Q: Can you make a bouquet using the plants I request?
A: Under normal circumstances, this would be possible for orders within the United States. However, bouquets intended for Japan are specially made to exclude plants that are subject to Japan's import restrictions. For that reason, we are generally unable to accommodate requests for specific plant varieties.

Most questions can likely be answered on Biodiversity Bird Blends’ HEREintroduction page. Due to Japan’s strict regulations governing health and medicinal claims, we are unable to publish all of the official information provided in the United States. Thank you for your understanding.

Disclaimer:  Birds can get caught and possibly sustain injuries in just about any material used in any toy. Use all toys with care and supervision. Biodiversity Bird Blends, LLC and PEGO NATURAL FOOD can not be held responsible for accidental injury.

We do not plan to keep this product regularly in stock. The next shipment is scheduled for September, and the shipment after that has not yet been scheduled but is expected to be more than six months later. If you are interested, we recommend placing a larger preorder early.
